Authors: Yu Yu Tyurina

This book is aimed at those studying Russian both in schools, universities, in private courses or independently. There are 31 lessons within the book and increase with difficulty, making the course suitable for those working from Basic Level (A2) through to the First Certificate Level (B1). The texts within the book bring together several characters from families based in Moscow who are neighbours. Their children study together, play sport activities and make friends. Throughout this book, the author tries to enable the learner to become familiar with modern Russian speech, which is now a fundamental part of the test of Russian as a foreign language.

Each lesson has the same structure consisting of text with exercises both before and after reading. The exercises before the text help students to take notice of grammatical structures and to look at and take account of the key words and phrases, which are fundamental to understanding the text. The reading of the text is made easier and the students can remember and reuse the vocabulary and structures through the repetition of their use. The exercises after the reading of the text strengthen students' understanding of the lexical and grammatical material covered.
