Salpicos - Portuguese course for children
Salpicos - Portuguese course for children

The "Salpicos" collection is designed to evoke in children between 5 - 13 years old an interest in the Portuguese language and culture. This course meets the recommendations of the CEFR and by the end of
Salpicos 1 and 2, students will have achieved proficiency at level A1 in terms of listening and speaking. By the end of Salpicos 3, students will have achieved skills at level A2 in terms of listening, speaking, reading and writing.
"Salpicos" 1 is aimed at non-reading pre-school children (4-5 year olds), by concentrating on listening to stories, singing songs, looking at images etc... so the children get used to the sound of the Portuguese language. "Salpicos" 2 and 3 are for children who have started reading and writing (6 - 10 year olds).
The student's book of each level contains a CD including children's songs. The teacher's book of each level also contains a CD with the recorded transcripts of the comic-style stories in the course as well as transcripts of the listening activities featuring in the student's book. Level 2 and 3 also have exercise books for the student.
The teacher's box (the Mala do professor) contains the student book, the teacher's book, both with their CDs, a giant book with some of the stories featured in the course for front of class teaching, a wide range of flashcards to revise vocabulary or which can be used in many different ways for games and fun, and a cuddly toy to practise dialogue with the children.
"Salpicos" 4 is designed to be a continuation of the content learned in "Salpicos" 3, but aimed at a pre-adolescent readership (11-13 year olds), and focuses on themes and subjects of interest to that age group: travel, sport, the internet, music, films, computer games etc, whilst not overlooking Portuguese culture and Portugual's geographical, demographic, social and political place in today's world and throughout history.
