Amigos pelo Mundo
Amigos pelo Mundo is an inclusive, immersive, interactive and insightful course for young learners (aged 10-14), who have no (or at most, very little) prior knowledge of European Portuguese.
Organized in accordance with the Camões Referencial for Portuguese Language, it covers CEFR levels A1-B1, thus taking pre-adolescents and young adolescents from a complete beginner's level to a lower-intermediate level of Portuguese, upon completion of the course.
Special care has been taken throughout to ensure that the contents fully reflect updated specifications and requirements outlined by the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Language).
Each level consists of a student's book, a separate exercise book and a teacher's guide. The student's book and exercise book are also available to purchase as part of a pack.
Proposing a fully communicative, task-based approach to learning Portuguese, Amigos pelo Mundo is primarily centred around the themes of interculturality and diaspora, whilst also encouraging respect for diversity, difference, climate and the environment: issues that are more prevalent than ever in an increasingly technologial world.
Its main objective is to take young learners on a cultural voyage of discovery through the Portuguese-speaking world, introducing them to the life stories and personal experiences of 8 characters of Portuguese descent. These 8 figures are present in each level of the course, accompanying pupils at every step and helping them to develop and articulate their linguistic and cultural knowledge.
The authors of this course have vast experience of teaching students in countries with large Portuguese communities (including Spain, France, Germany, Switzerland, Canada and the USA). Amigos pelo Mundo thereby prides itself on offering learners a truly unique and 100% authentic language-learning experience.
