Catherine Cheater Schemes of Work for Primary French (KS2)
Catherine Cheater Schemes of Work for Primary French (KS2)

Already adopted by some 5000 primary schools, this Scheme of Work is designed over 4 years from Year 3 to Year 6. The work is based on authentic resources - children's books, CDs and much more - which will motivate pupils from the first moment. Apart from giving them a very lively, very interactive, introduction to the French language and the way of life of their French peers, the activities are cleverly planned to integrate with other aspects of primary work, e.g., phonics, gist reading, the transition from words and sentences to narrative, some geography and, in the later years some science. The exhaustive teacher's manuals for each year guide the less experienced class teacher every step of the way.
The author of the scheme is one of the main reasons for its popularity. Formerly a CILT Senior Language Teaching Adviser, she has taught languages across a broad age and ability range, from nursery to A level, and for many years worked in an advisory capacity for languages in the primary phase.
Catherine Cheater's highly popular schemes have expanded to other languages and now include Spanish, with the Scheme of Work written by Steve Haworth and Italian, written by Adalgisa Serio and Ana Maria Forti Sheikh.
