A rich and captivating text for learning Italian as a foreign language which crosses Italy from North to South, proposing a real didactic journey in the form of a quiz, for levels A2 to C2.
The central thread of the volume is represented by ten Italian personalities (real and fictional), who are engaged in various important creative or working fields. A chapter of the book is dedicated to each of them and to their region of Italy: 60 quiz tests able to test anyone on the many areas of "Italian knowledge" (language, spelling, sports, painting, food and wine, places, etc.).
Just like a real pleasure trip, there is no set journey: you can start the book from wherever you want. It is sufficient to master a basic level of Italian (A2) to be able to face the quizzes, challenge yourself or your friends and learn something more about the wonders of the beautiful country.
The playful and engaging approach of the text fits perfectly with the ever growing interest in learning the Italian language through the discovery of the inexhaustible culture of the country and the events that have involved it and continue to impact it.
The book is ideal for warm-up activities (but also for extension and cool-down tasks), for presenting an Italian region and its qualities, and as a pretext to revise a grammatical structure.

Grazie a te, Laura e Fede!

I've been learning Italian for decades, on and off, just for leisure, and have collected shelves of books for learning this beautiful language and understanding more about Italy. So these days, I'm reluctant in buying any more but when I saw this book, I was tempted and intrigued by its unique "British Pub Quiz" style. I have collected plenty of reference books -- on grammar, Italian culture, novels, cookery, cross-words, ones with audio tapes, colloquial Italian (probably out of date by now) but not this style. I decided to buy a copy, and am certainly not disappointed.
My first impression of the book is that the quality of the paper is high, the pages are smooth and lovely to leaf through. The font is just the right size for me, clear and easy to the eye. The illustrations are very well thought of, attractive and engaging. The portable size of the book, together with its bitesize nature, makes an ideal choice for my bedtime reading.
I found the book itself very well organised, There are 10 sections, each section has 6 quizzes, making 60 quizzes in total. There are 10 categories of questions, relating to the Italian language (covering areas in grammar, idioms, etc) and the Italian culture (covering food, music, arts, etc).
Each quiz has 10 questions: each question belongs to exactly one of the 10 categories. So, that makes 600 questions in the 60 quizzes.
Each question is tagged with a handy icon at the margin. The icon indicates which category the question belongs to. I find this feature helpful. Language teachers would probably find this useful too if they wanted to use this book as part of their lesson planning.
I love the colour coding throughout the book. The answers are given at the back of the book -- definitely essential.
Suitability-wise, the authors have indicated it for Italian students from level A2 and above, and even for native Italians to have a fun quiz. I quite agree.
All in all, this Quiz Book is a real little gem.
