Ebenezer Scrooge, a miserly old man, cares for one thing only - money. He has no friends, doesn't like his family and refuses to help anyone.
On Christmas Eve, he is visited by the ghost of his former business partner, Jacob Marley, who reminds him that there is much more to life than being rich. Scrooge is subsequently visited by three more spirits (the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Yet to Come), who make him realise the extent to which his selfish ways have affected those around him.
Touching upon themes such as wealth and injustice, 'A Christmas Carol' is also a story of hope, highlighting the true meaning of Christmas and reminding us of the old proverb 'It is better to give than to receive.'.
