The Bureau of Check.

The novel by Aleksandr Arkhangelsky is a detective, a story of growing up, a portrait of the epoch, and an outset for the current disagreements.

1980. A mysterious telegram makes a postgraduate Alexey Nagovitsyn come back from a construction brigade. The entire novel describes only 9 days, but so many events fit within such a short period of time: a love story with a smart and firm lady Musya, a religious search, viewings of forbidden films and the KGB interrogations. Nothing happens to the main character in the novel by chance. Someone is testing his strength. At the background we see magnificent and stuffy Olympic Moscow, flats, streets, trains, lecture rooms at the Moscow State University, farewell to Vysotsky, the Luzhniki Olympic complex.

The book has been included in the short nominee list of the Big Book prize 2018.
