In his debut "drüben!" the young draftsman and author Simon Schwartz tells of the difficult decision his parents made to leave the GDR forever at the beginning of the 1980s.
In doing so, both oppose not only the ubiquitous dictatorship of the workers 'and peasants' state, but inevitably also against parts of their own families and their origins. From then on, their only son was to grow up between two German states. In his story, Simon Schwartz links an important chapter of the recent German past with his own personal history.
