Two autobiographical texts which were found in Louis Althusser's archives when his family donated them to the IMEC, in July 1991. Ten years passed between the two texts. Ten years in the middle of which, on November 16, 1980, Althusser's fate took a turn into the unthinkable when his wife Hélène was murdered in their apartment in Paris. Mixing facts with fantasy, Althusser writes to lift the "silent gravestone" that has been laid on him after this event. He tells of a solitary childhood, talks about his philosophical and political opinions, his meeting with Hélène in 1946, until the tragic ending.
