The emphasis in "Cumbre" is on clear presentation of new language and simple explanations of activities and exercises. A balance is struck between activities which introduce and practise the skills (oral and written comprehension and expression), and mechanisms for consolidation (repetition, grammar and vocabulary practice). Creativity is encouraged by the inclusion of a task or project in each unit.
The cultural backdrop for "Cumbre" is the whole Spanish-speaking world, with texts, songs, maps, and photographs from all over Latin America as well as Spain, and regular treatment of linguistic differences.
