Caramel
Authors: Nadja Döring Frédéric Vermeersch
The clear and methodical approach used in this two-level course is designed to make the process of learning a progressive and enjoyable one. Pupils are guided by Caramel the Poney and his friends, and the new structures are put into context through situations which the child can easily relate to. The use of these themes, the clear layout and the varied activities (stickers, songs and rhymes, manual games, etc) ensure that the child's imagination and curiosity are constantly stimulated. The emphasis is on oral communication, although children are progressively introduced to the written aspect of the French language.
Each level is made up of a pupil's book, which includes an illustrated map of France, an activity book containing a mini-dictionary and stickers, and a thorough teacher's guide which offers advice on how to exploit the course and suggestions regarding evaluation. Accompanying audio-cassettes complement the activity books. The audio-CDs feature the 7 original songs of each level (sung and instrumental versions). Level 1 offers approximately 60 hours of classroom study.
