From the very start bright cartoon stories form the basis of dialogues and a wide range of activities and games in "Alex et Zoé et compagnie". The pupils' book is clearly laid out, and only the vocabulary and phrases to be learnt are included in written form so that the childrens' attention remains focused on the visual stimuli.

The activities on the accompanying CDs/cassettes are all based on the pictures in the pupils' book (pick out the characters or objects mentioned, listen and repeat or answer the questions), with songs for the class to sing along to and join in the actions.
